Youth ALIVE!

To support our programs to reduce violence in Oakland, including our 24/7 violent incident rapid response system, through which our Violence Interruption team will conduct 104 mediations among groups, gangs, and individuals; 90% will be resolved by agreement of both parties; our hospital-based violence intervention staff, to discourage retaliation and provide intensive, trauma informed case management to 85 victims, beginning at their hospital bedsides. We will conduct 30 victim relocations; our mental health counselors will provide 120 hours of therapy; our violence prevention educators will train 50 teens from our neighborhoods hardest hit by violence to be leaders and peer educators. The impact will be felt primarily by a marginalized community who bear the brunt of violence in Oakland, by hundreds of victims and families otherwise left to cope with conflict, trauma and the daily threat of violence alone. In that, the entire city will be lifted up.
